Hollywood is rolling out the welcome mat for one of Las Vegas’ most popular gambling influencers.

(Image: Red Leaf Entertainment)According to The Hollywood Reporter, an independent feature film is in development about Stephen Matt Morrow—known to more than 1.6 million YouTube subscribers as Vegas Matt—marking the latest sign of mainstream entertainment’s growing fascination with casino content creation.
While traditional advantage play—a strategy-driven niche where gamblers use math and timing to tilt the odds—has long fascinated casinos, Hollywood is expanding its lens to include the modern world of slot influencers and casino content creators.
The upcoming indie biopic, titled The Chop, is being written and produced by filmmaker, writer, and stand-up comedian Mike Young through Red Leaf Entertainment. Production is targeted for 2027, though no director, cast, or financing details have been announced.
According to the film’s synopsis, the story traces Morrow as he connects with a group of gamblers whose high-stakes approach to risk begins attracting serious attention on casino floors across Las Vegas. As their reputation grows, Morrow is pushed further into the spotlight, confronting new pressures involving ambition, family, and fame.
Vegas Matt made headlines recently after claiming that The Venetian escorted him off its property after he won a $400,000 jackpot on a Phoenix Link slot machine—a story that fueled widespread debate over how major resorts manage high-profile casino influencers on their gaming floors.
Advantage Playground
Young—whose previous credits include 2024’s Stealing Jokes starring Michael Rapaport; 2019’s Adam, starring Aaron Paul and Jeff Daniels; and My Man Is a Loser starring John Stamos—told The Hollywood Reporter that Morrow hired him directly to adapt his life.
“I was immediately drawn to the human side of his journey,” Young told the trade outlet, describing the project as a “rags-to-riches drama” tracing Morrow’s evolution from dedicated husband and father to viral gambling personality.
News of The Chop comes directly on the heels of HBO’s announcement that it is developing a drama series set in the actual advantage play space.
Starring and executive-produced by Riley Keough (granddaughter of Elvis Presley), Advantage Player is adapted from Gina Fiore’s memoir detailing her 20-plus years as a high-stakes card counter and hole-carder.
